WOMEN'S PREMIERSHIP STARS QUALIFY FOR UNDER-19 ELITE STAGES

Danske Bank Women’s Premiership stars secure Women’s European Under-19 Championship elite stage qualification for Northern Ireland.

No less than 13 representatives from the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership played their part in the three game mini-tournament to the next qualifying stage ahead of the 2019 Under-19 Championships in Scotland.

Linfield Ladies’ Megan Bell captained the girls in green, as peers Lauren Currie (Glentoran Women), Yasmin White (Glentoran Women), Abbie Magee (Linfield Ladies), Kelsie Burrows (Linfield Ladies), Rebecca McKenna (Linfield Ladies), Caitlyn Hamilton (Crusaders Strikers), Louise McDaniel (Linfield Ladies), Jenna McKearney (Glentoran Women) all featured in each of the three games.

Niamh Ruddy (Portadown Ladies), Ebony Leckey (Sion Swifts) made two appearances with Bronagh McGuinness (Derry City Ladies) and Leah McDaid (Derry City Ladies) making one apiece.

During a week of action, Alfie Wyle’s side won 7-1 against Estonia, drew 0-0 with Kosovo and despite losing 7-0 to Germany – sealed their qualification.

Elsewhere, Sion Swifts’ Amy Boyle Carr was forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland Under-19 squad through injury as they also qualified for the Elite stage with three wins from their three games.
