Sion Swifts chalked up an impressive two goal victory over leaders Linfield Ladies in the Danske Bank Women's Premiership on Friday evening.
Both teams started brightly and at a high tempo, with the home side the first to threaten when Amy Boyle Carr poked her shot just wide of the post.
Linfield Ladies were dealt a blow when Alison Smyth clashed with Molly Meehan in the Sion Swifts goal, it was immediately clear that she had suffered a serious leg injury and couldn't continue.
The game kicked off again after a 30-minute stoppage and Sion started to test the Linfield backline when Boyle Carr got on the end of a rebound shot from Tyler Toland and gave Sion a 1-0 lead.
Kirsty McGuiness then threatened for Linfield after a one on one with Meehan, which saw her shot go wide of the far post.
Following the interval, Michelle McDaid doubled the lead for Sion when she got on the end of a loose ball in the Linfield box and volleyed it past Lauren Perry in the Linfield goal.
Kirsty McGuiness went close again but a super save from Swifts keeper Meehan kept the away team at bay and earned Sion Swifts a superb victory and clean against the league leaders.
