Ahead of the launch of the 2019 season of women’s football next month, players from the seven Danske Bank Women’s Premiership clubs have come together to support International Women’s Day.

Hoping to inspire a new generation of women footballers, the players together with sponsors Danske Bank, and organisers the NI Football League, are calling on football fans to get out and support their local women’s team this season.

Vicky Davies, Managing Director of Strategy and Corporate Development at Danske Bank said: “Through our partnership with the Northern Ireland Football League we hope to give women’s football, at all levels, the status and recognition it deserves. It’s important that on

International Women’s Day, we celebrate the fantastic achievements of local women’s football. Already this year we’ve seen 11 Danske Bank Women’s Premiership players represent Northern Ireland on the international stage and I’ve no doubt that these players will be helping inspire a new generation of women footballers.”

Last year’s reigning champions, Linfield, will be looking to win their fourth consecutive league title with new challengers Comber Rec Ladies joining the line-up alongside Cliftonville Ladies, Crusaders Strikers, Derry City, Glentoran Women and Sion Swifts Ladies – look out for fixtures next week.
