Glentoran Women's hosted Cliftonville ladies at the Dub in the battle for second place in the final game for both teams in the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership.
Both teams found it difficult to settle in the initial stages of the game. The tenth minute brought the first scoring opportunity as Cliftonville went close when Amber Dempster almost got on the end of a Marissa Callaghan cross.
Glentoran responded with a series of attacks, which lead to their opening goal in the 20th minute. Demi Vance was set free on the left wing by Kelly Bailie and delivered a pinpoint cross for Nadene Caldwell to finish with a side foot volley.
Glentoran continued in the ascendancy but couldn't add to their tally soon after the goal.
In the 26th minute Chloe Orr put Cliftonville level with a smart finish after being set free on the right by McMaster.
Both teams continued to create and miss scoring opportunities in an open game. The home side finally made one of these count in the 32nd minute with a Kelly Bailie shot from the left wing putting them into a 2-1 lead.
Cliftonville piled on the pressure and forced an equaliser with half-time approaching when Glentoran failed to clear a corner and Connolly scored from close range to make it 2-2 going into the break.
Glentoran made two changes at half time introducing Joely Andrews and Danielle Maxwell for Sarah Gamble and Aimee-Lee Peachey.
The game became a scrappy affair with neither team able to get control of the game or the ball in the opening stages of the second half.
Scoring chances were few and both defences were in control. Midway through the half Cliftonville made three changes bringing on Devine, McEvoy and Canavan for Callaghan, Connolly and Weatherall.
Glentoran were beginning to dominate and they scored their final goal in the 82nd minute when Joely Andrews finished past Callaghan from close range following a cross from the left by Danielle Maxwell.
Cliftonville piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser but Glentoran held on for the win and secured a second place finish after a fantastic run of form.
