Glentoran and Linfield met for the second successive week, this time back to the basics of the league following last weeks League Cup semi-final.
Linfield took the lead against the run of play in the 10th minute and in fortunate circumstances. A Chloe McCarron shot came back off the right hand post and hit Glentoran defender Jess Foy for an own goal.
Linfield increased their lead in the 20th minute through Kirsty McGuinness. McGuinness got onto the end of a long ball forward and outpaced Jess Foy, she fired hard and low across Glentoran 'keeper Ashley McKinnon and into the net.
Glentoran pulled a goal back and reduced the scoreline when Linfield goalkeeper Louise McFredrick dropped a Kerry Eddis free kick and Danni Ennis was on hand to score from close range.
The 2nd half began with both defences on top and few scoring chances. In the 79th minute Glentoran almost drew level through a Rebecca McKenna close range shot which Jennifer McDaid blocked as it was headed for the net.
Linfield added to their tally and grabbed the all important 3rd goal through Megan Bell in the 84th minute to settle their nerves and kill the game off.
