CANDYSTRIPES HIT MID ULSTER FOR SIX
Derry City Women moved into the top half of the table following a strong second half showing against Mid Ulster Ladies at Stangmore Park.
Caoirse Doherty opened the scoring for the Candystripes midway through the first half after breaking clear of the defence and slotting past keeper Nikola Kundekova at the near post.
Mid Ulster levelled soon after, though, when Eimear McGarrity squeezed a low effort beyond Naomh Barr at the right post.
Saoirse Healey restored City's advantage just before the hour with a lob over Kundekova from just outside the area, followed a few minutes later by Ellie Long's right sided effort that bounced over the reach of the keeper.
The visitors killed the game off with three goals in eight minutes later in the second half.
Tara O'Connor-Farren added a fourth from just outside the six yard box, Doherty bagged her second with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with a stunning strike from the right edge of the area and Abby Alexander wrapped the scoring up with a similar strike past the outstretched Kundekova.
