NO GREAT ESCAPE FOR SKY BLUES
Larne Women defeated Ballymena United Women thanks to a stoppage time winner from Rachel Robinson, which put paid to United's last gasp hopes of avoiding the drop.
A classic Shanes Hill derby, the game was played in traditional fashion, full out physicality and drama on and off the pitch.
Scoreless at the break, United stepped up a gear from the hour mark onwards, throwing everything they could at Larne.
Ellen McClure was a threat on the wing and Megan Henry tried on numerous occasions to get the better of Larne keeper Abbie Bickerstaff.
But, in the dying moments of the game, the Inver Women got back into their rhythm, creating trouble inside the Ballymena box with shots from Erin Montgomery and Bernadette Ferreira both missing the target.
However, in stoppage time, a scurry in front of goal saw Larne get their win thanks to a last minute shot by Rachel Robinson to secure the win for the Inver Women in their final game of the season.
