VANCE DOUBLE HELPS GLENS RECLAIM LEAGUE TITLE
Glentoran Women clinched the Sports Direct Women's Premiership title with a three-goal defeat of Crusaders Strikers at Seaview.
The East Belfast side reclaimed the crown they last held in 2021 thanks to goals from Demi Vance and Emily Wilson to put them out of reach of their only challengers Cliftonville Ladies who swept to a comfortable victory over Sion Swifts Ladies.
The game starting at break neck speed and Glentoran were on the front foot, probing frantically to grab a goal.
Both played skilful and neat football but neither could find a breakthrough. Glentoran created many chances but Maddy Harvey-Clifford rose to the challenge and Crusaders Strikers defence was solid.
Against the run of play Amy McGivern nearly claimed the first goal when her header hit the post.
The Glens created chance after chance in the second half, and only took four minutes to find a way through after picking her spot to beat Maddy Harvey-Clifford.
Both teams continued to play great football, with Emily Wilson showing great trickery to hit the crossbar to double Glentoran's lead despite the best efforts of Harvey-Clifford to claw the ball out.
Vance then completed the scoring right at the end with her second of the afternoon, a curling peach of a finish into the corner of the net to secure a third title in four seasons for the Glens.
