FIVE STAR BLUES TOO STRONG FOR LISBURN
Linfield started very brightly and were ahead after only two minutes when Keri Halliday slid Carla Devine in and she finished confidently.
Shortly after, on 15 minutes, Sophie Keenan was fouled in the area and Keri Halliday slotted home from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 to the Blues.
Lisburn had a great chance to get back in the game shortly after but Erin McAllister in the Linfield goal saved well when Aisling Cull was in on goal.
Mia Moore thought she had scored Linfield’s third but the flag was raised for offside. On 18 minutes Moore was put in again by Carla Devine and this time the goal stood, making it 3-0.
On 20 minutes Rhyleigh Marks provided the pass for Keri Halliday to double her tally for the night and make it 4-0 to Linfield.
Both teams made changes at half time but the pattern of the game remained the same.
Lisburn were well organised but having to work hard to limit the chances that Linfield were creating.
Perhaps the best goal of the game came on 64 minutes when Keri Halliday cut in from the left and blasted a right footed effort home to make the score 5-0 to Linfield.
Linfield had a final chance to score on 88 minutes when Sienna Leckey was fouled in the box but Emily Reid’s penalty was well saved by Jessica Poots in the Lisburn goal.
