BLUES SWEEP TO MIDGLEY PARK VICTORY
Linfield Women swept to their biggest win of the season with an eight-goal defeat of Larne Women at Midgley Park.
The Blues raced into an early two-goal lead with goals from Ebony Leckey and Mia Moore, both coming after good work from Jane McMaster.
Leckey doubled up midway through the first half with a confident finish following another surging run from McMaster before, around the half-hour mark, Sienna Leckey added a fourth with McMaster again having a say.
Both teams made changes at half time but the pattern of play remained the same with Linfield dominating. Linfield had a strong claim for a penalty on 56 minutes when Moore was stopped in her tracks but the referee waved play on but they didn’t have to wait long for their fifth when substitute Emily Reid scored.
Three minutes later Reid notched her second and Linfield’s sixth when she slotted home from a scramble after a corner.
On 66 minutes Mia Fitzsimmons was on hand to score number seven after another scramble in the Larne box.
Another substitute, Keri Halliday, then completed the scoring on 82 minutes when she rounded the visiting keeper to slot home.
