RUTHLESS REDS SWEEP PAST LARNE
Five goals in each half helped champions Cliftonville Ladies to a big win over Larne Women at Solitude.
Toni-Leigh Finnegan opened the scoring on 19 minutes with a stunning long-range effort.
The midfielder repeated the trick for her and the Reds’ second of the evening with a swerving strike into the corner minutes later.
Their third arrived on the half-hour mark when Kirsty McGuinness was fouled in the box and captain Marissa Callaghan stepped up and rifled home the resulting spot-kick.
McGuinness then got on the scoresheet two minutes later, with a thunderbolt from 30-yards out flew into the roof of the net. Callaghan made it five before half-time with a close range finish.
The Reds’ ruthlessness continued in the second period as Caitlin McGuinness netted a brace.
She first slotted home from inside the area, before pouncing after Callaghan had chipped the goalkeeper to apply the finishing touch.
Callaghan made it eight with an exquisite lob from 20-yards out with substitute Claire Shaw blasting home another goal after being found in the box by Katie Markey in injury-time.
Markey got her second assist of the evening as she swung in a corner for Fi Morgan to head home and complete the scoring.
