FOUR FOR KIRSTY AS REDS RUN RIOT
Cliftonville Ladies remain hot on leaders Glentoran’s heels following a comprehensive victory over Mid Ulster Ladies on Friday night.
The Reds went ahead on 24 minutes courtesy of a cool finish from Kirsty McGuinness, who had earlier hit the post in the contest.
Ten minutes later Claire Shaw doubled their advantage, reacting quickest to bundle home after Tara Reily’s shot came off the underside of the crossbar.
She netted again shortly after with a long range effort before captain Marissa Callaghan made it four with a low strike.
She then added a fifth just before the break, netting after getting on the end of Toni Leigh Finnegan’s corner.
The Reds’ onslaught continued in the second period, with Callaghan and Shaw completing their hat-tricks in quick succession.
Callaghan converted from the spot with Shaw firing home at the back post to take Cliftonville’s tally to seven.
A fine strike from Kirsty McGuinness just after the hour mark made it eight, with Finnegan heading home from Danielle Maxwell’s corner for their ninth.
Kirsty McGuinness got her hat-trick and took the Reds’ total into double figures with an outside of the boot effort before substitute Louise McDaniel latched onto Maxwell’s low cross to tuck away another goal.
A looping effort from Maxwell made it 12, with Finnegan then blasting home her second of the game.
Kirsty McGuinness rounded off the scoring with her fourth of the evening as the Reds secured back to back league wins.
