REDS HIT EIGHT AT A DAMP SOLITUDE
Cliftonville Ladies lit up a damp and dreary Solitude with an eight-goal haul past Derry City Women.
Louise McDaniel opened the scoring after three minutes after pouncing on the ball 25 yards from goal after Caitlin McGuinness had charged down a clearance by City keeper Naomh Barr.
Danielle Maxwell then doubled the Reds lead after 12 minutes with a free-kick high over Barr, with Marissa Callaghan making it 3-0 with a volley from Hannah Doherty's cross.
Callaghan struck again moments later after Kirsty McGuinness and Doherty combined to create the opening. Maxwell added a fifth on the half-hour mark following a surging McDaniel run.
Abby Alexander pulled one back for the Candystripes after her shot crept inside Rachael Norney's post but, moments after that, Maxwell claimed her hat-trick after being played through by Toni-Leigh Finnegan.
Not to be outdone, Callaghan also hit her hat-trick a couple of minutes after that from a Maxwell corner.
Substitute Katie Markey completed the scoring with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with a scrambled finish from Kayla Campbell's initial effort.
