STRIKERS HIT SKY BLUES FOR SIX
Crusaders Strikers moved to within a point of fourth place with a 6-1 win away to Ballymena United Women.
The Crues started the stronger, and duly moved in front after 12 mimutes when Amy McGivern pounced on the loose ball after United keeper Lucy Winton couldn't hold a Darcy Boyle cross from the right.
McGivern doubled her tally midway through the first half with a cool finish after running onto a Caitlyn Hamilton ball over the top.
United reduced the deficit just after the half-hour mark courtesy of Tash Bamford's looping finish from Kerry Eddis' throw-in.
Ballymena’s confidence grew and they almost equalised on 42 minutes when following good work on the left by Megan Davidson and Megan Henry set up Katie Wallace but her shot was just inches wide.
But the Crues restored their two goal advantage on the stroke of half-time after Boyle picked up the ball on the edge of the box, drove forward and sent the ball past Winton.
Boyle picked up where she left off early in the second half, skipping into the box from the right wing to score with a good strike into the far corner on 54 minutes.
Number five arrived moments later. Nicole Burns was adjudged to have fouled Rebecca Mann in the box and Darcie McNeill made no mistake from the spot.
The scoring was completed nine minutes from time when a loose ball was picked up on by Danielle McDowell-Tuffey. Her shot was spilled by Winton and Zoe Rodgers was quickest to react, scoring the Strikers’ sixth of the night.
