GLENS WIN DERBY TO MOVE SIX CLEAR
Glentoran Women moved six points clear at the top of the table following a derby victory over Linfield Women at Midgley Park.
The Glens moved in front after a quarter-of-an-hour when Joely Andrews converted a Demi Vance cross delivered from the left.
Linfield responded almost immediately through Rhyleigh Marks after good work from Sienna Leckey and Carla Devine, with Leckey then edging the Blues in front not long after that following a diagonally ball from Megan Weatherall.
Glentoran responded positively, having a goal ruled out and seeing another effort come back off the woodwork but it took a Kerry Beattie spot-kick at the end of the first half - and a Leckey sending off for handball - for the leaders to get back onto level terms.
Boosted by this, Glentoran regained the advantage early in the second half when Andrews nodded home her second of the evening.
The remainder of the game saw Linfield defend valiantly, limiting Glentoran to long range attempts which rarely troubled keeper Lauren Currie.
Glentoran also finished the game with ten players when, deep into added time, Sam Kelly was shown a red card for violent conduct.
