SION CLAIM NORTH-WEST DERBY HONOURS
Sion Swifts Ladies came out on top of a fiercely competitive North West derby at the Melvin Sports Complex.
It didn't take Sion long to move in front when, as early as the third minute, they were awarded a penalty for handball with Teegan Lynch duly converting.
Despite hitting the woodwork and creating a number of good chances Sion couldn't add to their lead and were indeed pegged back four minutes from the break when Abby Alexander found the net after getting on the end of a ball over the top.
Alexander then made the most of a mistake at the back to fire Derry in front seven minutes into the second half with a well taken finish into the bottom corner.
Sion levelled on 58 minutes, however, through a Zoe McGlynn tap-in before, just over ten minutes later Lynch found the net with her second penalty of the evening to edge the home side back in front.
That was how it stayed until the eighth minute of added time when Cora Chambers made sure of the win for Sion.
