STRIKERS PRODUCE A TITAN PERFORMANCE
Crusaders Strikers swept to a five-goal victory over Derry City Women at Seaview.
This match had extra poignancy for the Strikers as a Titan, Kaylee Black, had sadly passed away at the weekend. Everyone at the club, and the wider footballing community, was still feeling stunned and upset yet keen to do Kaylee proud.
The match began with a minute’s silence in her memory.
Keen to bounce back from last week's defeat, the Strikers moved in front midway through the first half when Caitlyn Hamilton followed up on the rebound after Rachel McLaren's initial effort came back off the crossbar.
Faith Johnston doubled up ten minutes before the break after burst into the box to slot the ball past keeper Naomh Barr.
McLaren did get her name on the scoresheet on 56 minutes via an inswinging corner, followed a short time after that by Johnston's second of the night in similar circumstances to her first after a Morganne Beggs effort had come off the woodwork.
Substitute Leah McEvoy completed the scoring with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining just after she had an effort cleared off the line.
