BLUES FIGHT BACK TO CLAIM POINTS
Linfield Ladies staged a second half comeback to edge out Lisburn Ladies and move back into the top half of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership.
Goals from Emily Reid and Ebony Leckey sealed a late win for the Blues after Vivienne McCormack had given the visitors an early lead.
Linfield started the brighter and enjoyed much of the ball but without making an early breakthrough. Lisburn took the lead on 13 mins when McCormack latched onto a long clearance before cutting inside and firing home past Lauren Currie.
Sienna Leckey went close on 26 mins when through on goal only to be denied by the advancing Lisburn shot-stopper Jess Poots. At the other end Currie did well to tip over Abbie Burnett’s shot from the corner of the six-yard box.
It took until the 62nd minute for Linfield to break down a resolute Lisburn defence. Reid hooked the ball home having reacted first to the bouncing ball in the box. Rebecca Bassett thought she had put the Blues ahead on 71 minute only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.
Ebony Leckey proved to be the winner for Linfield when she headed home at the back post from Megan Weatherall’s cross with six minutes remaining.
