LATE GOALS GIVE GLENS THE EDGE
Glentoran Women netted two late goals to see off a resilient Sion Swifts Ladies at Ashfield High School to keep their title challenge alive.
The reigning champions did take the lead through Kerry Beattie but her goal was cancelled out later in the first half by Swifts midfielder Kerry Brown.
It took Caragh Hamilton to break down a stubborn Sion defence on 76 minutes, and following that breakthrough, Imogen Lancaster scored her first goal for the club five minutes to seal a 3-1 win for the Glens.
Beattie opened the scoring with a close-range finish from Hamilton’s delivery but Brown levelled the score following a dinked free-kick into the box.
Sion looked the hungrier team starting the second half but it was a Hamilton solo moment which doubled the home sides lead. Substitute Lancaster finished off the night’s goals with a close range finish.
