PEACHEY GIVES CRUES THE EDGE
Crusaders Strikers moved above Linfield Ladies into the top half of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership with a one-goal victory at New Midgely Park.
Aimee-lee Peachey – a recent arrival at the North Belfast side from Glentoran Women – netted the only goal of the game three minutes before the break; netting a rebound after an initial effort rebounded back off the post.
Emily Wilson had the opportunity to double the Strikers lead late on but her penalty was dragged wide of goal, although the Blues could not breach the visitor’s defence.
Shortly after a free kick from Linfield’s Rhyleigh Marks was well saved by Crues goalkeeper Maddy Harvey-Clifford as the visitors held on to take a narrow victory.
That result sees Crusaders leapfrog Linfield into the top four; they have two points more than the Blues and have played one game fewer.
