ON FORM SION GRAB LATE LEVELLER
Sion Swifts Ladies continued their strong run of form as Leontia McVarnock’s equaliser earned a point with five minutes remaining against Linfield Ladies.
The Blues had looked set to record their first victory in three league games after Keri Halliday’s first half opener, but McVarnock’s late goal ensured a share of the spoils.
Halliday opened the scoring on 20 minutes for the home side after a mix up in the Sion defence allowed her to win the ball in a challenge with the Sion goalkeeper Jennifer Currie before confidently stroking the ball home.
Shortly after, a flowing move by Linfield ended with Abi Sweetlove shooting just wide of the goal when well placed.
Following a scramble in the box with five minutes to go, McVarnock was on hand to roll the ball into the unguarded net after a goalmouth scramble.
