IMPRESSIVE CRUES SWEEP TO VICTORY
Crusaders Strikers secured an eye-catching 4-1 victory at Sion Swifts Ladies with Mairead McCann grabbing two headed goals.
An own goal from Caoimhe Walsh had given the Strikers an early lead before McCann doubled the advantage, but Kelly Crompton pulled a goal back for Sion before half-time.
However, the Crues were not to be denied with McCann heading home another before Northern Ireland international striker Emily Wilson added a fourth.
Walsh’s own goal opened the scoring after a dangerous cross into the box from the Crues, before McCann doubled the lead with a header from Wilson’s cross.
Crompton’s strike from outside the box gave Sion hope but McCann restored the two-goal advantage in the 62nd minute after another cross had come back off the crossbar and Wilson completed the scoring when she cut in from wide and slotted a chipped effort into the Sion goal.
