STRIKERS END HOME CAMPAIGN ON WINNING NOTE
Crusaders Strikers edged out Sion Swifts Ladies in the North Belfast side’s final home fixture of the campaign.
Cora Chambers gave Sion the lead in the 12th minute but the home side responded midway through the first half when Northern Ireland international striker Emily Wilson hit the equaliser, before Aimee Neal’s late own goal sealed the points for the Crues.
It is a result which guarantees third place for the Crues ahead of the final day, with Sion destined to finish the campaign in fourth.
Chambers chipped Maddy Harvey-Clifford to give Sion the lead but the Strikers continued to probe for the equaliser and soon responded with a one-two between Amy McGivern and Wilson, who scored at the second attempt.
Crues substitute Megan Ingram hit the post but she caused the winner after her cross came off the unfortunate Sion defender Neal for an own goal.
