GLENS HIT TWO TO STAY TOP
Glentoran remain top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership after taking securing a two-goal victory at Crusaders Strikers on Wednesday evening.
The Glens made it six league wins in a row thanks to second half goals from Kerry Beattie and Joely Andrews, to keep them ahead of Cliftonville thanks to a better head-to-head record with three rounds of matches remaining.
This match was a prequel to the Irish Cup and both teams cancelled each other out in the opening half, with Crues goalkeeper Maddy Harvey-Clifford combatting all Glentoran attacks.
Beattie broke the deadlock three minutes after the break by volleying home Lauren Wade’s cross from the left and the points were wrapped up when Beattie turned provider for Andrews to seal the win late on.
