SION SURPRISE GLENS AT MELVIN
Glentoran Women missed the chance to return to the top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership following a surprise 2-1 defeat at Sion Swifts Ladies.
Teegan Lynch opened the scoring just before the break for the hosts and Aimee Neal added a second just after the hour mark.
Kerry Beattie gave champions Glentoran hope with five minutes remaining - remarkably her eighth goal against Sion in three appearances this season - but it was not enough for the Glens.
Sion took the lead when Neal’s header from a corner crashed against the bar but Lynch was there to score on the rebound.
Neal’s glancing header made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute and Beattie’s late consolation goal was not enough.
