REDS CLOSE THE GAP
Cliftonville Ladies closed the gap to just one point at the top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership following their 3-1 win at Sion Swifts Ladies.
The Reds still have one game in hand over reigning champions Glentoran Women and bounced back from their defeat in East Belfast with a comprehensive win over Sion.
Louise McDaniel gave John McGrady’s side the lead before the break before quickfire goals from Kirsty McGuinness and Megan Weatherall extended the advantage at the start of the second half.
McDaniel had opened the scoring after an effort from McGuinness was saved initially, while the former Sion striker then scored just after the break followed by a Weatherall strike.
Substitute Cora Chambers pulled a late goal back for Sion, but it was not enough for the hosts.
