GLENTORAN CROWNED DANSKE BANK WOMEN'S PREMIERSHIP CHAMPIONS!
Glentoran Women clinched the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership for the first time in six years after winning 2-0 at Crusaders Strikers.
The Glens only needed a point to secure the title but any early nerves were settled in the ninth minute when Sam Kelly broke the deadlock with a left-footed finish.
Kerry Beattie won the ball inside the box and found space for Kelly whose finish was enough to secure the points on the night and win the title.
Danielle Maxwell completed the scoring in stoppage time with a great lobbed finish from the angle to put the icing on the cake for Billy Clarke’s side.
This was a fierce and closely-contested match, which was the first Danske Bank Women’s Premiership game to be livestreamed by BBC Sport, with the Glens lifting the trophy at the conclusion.
