SWIFTS BLAST EIGHT PAST CANDYSTRIPES
Sion Swifts recorded a landslide eight-goal victory as they took advantage of rival teams not playing to move three points clear at the top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership.
Tony McGinley’s side were six goals ahead by half-time with Erin Fildara netting a 40-minute hat-trick while Kerry Brown notably provided a hat-trick of assists.
In the absence of Kirsty McGuinness - on international duty with Northern Ireland - Sion’s source of goals came from elsewhere, Brown netted their second and Kirsty’s sister Caitlin added the third.
Leontia McVarnock also netted in the first half while a Candystripes own goal and Chelsea Sheerin strike in the dying minutes made it 8-0.
