SION HIT FOUR TO MOVE INTO POLE POSITION
Sion Swifts recorded a statement four-goal victory over Danske Bank Women's Premiership rivals Glentoran on Wednesday night.
Donna Kay Henry bagged a brace for the Strabane-based hosts while Kristen Desmond and Amy Carr were also among the scorers in the impressive display.
On 25 minutes the deadlock was broken: a wonderful long pass from Catherine Hyndman sent Henry clear and when Glens goalkeeper Emma Higgins misjudged the bounce, the Swifts striker was first to the ball to prod home.
In the 47th minute Desmond rolled Makyla Mulholland on the edge of the box and shot low and hard into the bottom left corner with Higgins scrambling.
Carr outpaced Glens captain Jessica Foy and with Higgins in no man’s land she rounded the last defender to slot home.
With only a minute of normal time remaining Henry robbed White on the half way line, stepped inside the oncoming Mulholland and fired an unstoppable drive from 20 yards past Higgins into the roof of the net.
