SION MAKE IT TWO WINS IN THREE DAYS
Sion Swifts - who defeated Glentoran 3-2 in a rearranged league fixture on Monday night - triumphed 3-1 at home to Crusaders on Wednesday.
Kelly Crompton, Donna Kay Henry (penalty) and Michelle McDaid were all on target for the in-form Sion, who are unbeaten since the opening day defeat at Linfield, while Jess Rea netted for the Crues.
Just before the break, Claragh Connor’ss delivery from the left found Crompton at the back post and she rose well to head home past Maddie Clifford.
The important second goal went Swifts way when Kay Henry was upended in the penalty area and stepped up herself to slot home, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Crusaders to their credit kept plugging away and got a goal back when Julie Nelson sent a long free kick into the penalty area which Swifts failed to clear and Rea was gifted an golden chance from close range.
However, the Swifts were determined to hold on to the points and made sure of this when second half sub McDaid got on the end of a great move to send the ball home at the back post to put Swifts 3-1 ahead.
