LATE WINNER ADDS NEW TWIST TO TITLE RACE
Sion Swifts secured a vital three points in a clash between two Danske Bank Women’s Premiership contenders at the Hammer on Monday night.
The Strabane-based side triumphed in the rearranged fixture to move them level on points - despite having played a game less - with the Glens in second, two points behind leaders Linfield.
Goals from Tasmin McCarter, Kristin Desmond and Donna Kay Henry gave Sion the points despite a Kelly Bailie brace for the hosts.
It took only five minutes for the first of the five goals with McCarter opening the scoring in an entertaining game.
Glentoran pulled the score level on 35 minutes when Bailie smashed a penalty into the right-hand side of the net after Sion had handled in the box.
Sion went ahead again in the 57th minute through Desmond after a smart passing move but Bailie levelled again with a calm chip over Sion goalkeeper Nicole McClure.
However, Carr won the game with seven minutes to go for the visitors.
