GLENTORAN BEAT STRIKERS TO STAY TOP OF THE PILE
Glentoran remain top of the standings thanks to their two-goal victory at Seaview - Joely Andrews and Kerry Beattie were on target for the League Cup winners.
Crusaders welcomed back club captain Julie Nelson to marshal the defence after a spell on the sidelines through injury. The host's best chance of the half came on 14 minutes from a Danielle McDowell free kick, the ball falling to Amanda Morton but, she sliced her shot agonisingly wide. Glentoran had a great chance minutes later when a shot by captain, Nadene Caldwell flashed just wide of goal.
The stalemate was broken on 37 minutes after a great team move down the right by Glentoran. The ball was swept into the box by Alison McMaster and Andrews was in the right spot to coolly place the shot just beyond the diving Kirsty McCaughtry in the Crusaders goal.
The game was settled on 83 minutes when a Glentoran Corner caused a goalmouth scramble in the Crusaders area. The ball fell kindly to Beattie on the edge of the box and she lashed a fine effort into the bottom left corner beyond McCaughtry in goal.
