BLUES STORM TO SOLITUDE VICTORY
Linfield took a huge stride towards closing the gap on goal difference to league leaders Glentoran with an eight-goal victory at fourth-placed Cliftonville.
The Blues began the night level on points with the East Belfast outfit but with an inferior goal difference of ten - but as the Glens defeated Crusaders 2-0, that gap has now closed to just four.
Caitlin McGuinness got the ball rolling for Linfield in the second minute at Solitude before her sister and captain Kirsty doubled the lead soon after, with Rebecca Bassett and Abbie Magee adding further goals before the break.
Phil Lewis' side did not ease up in the second half with captain McGuinness and Casey Howe netting within the space of a minute, before the former completed her hat-trick and Howe added her second and Linfield's eighth.
Cliftonville were unfortunate not to pull a goal back when Carla Devine who had replaced Hollie Mailey headed a Chloe Orr cross onto the underside of the cross bar.
