BRENNAN BRACE SETS SION ON VICTORY COURSE
Sion Swifts remain within two points of the summit with an impressive four-goal victory at Seaview over Crusaders Strikers, who had won each of their previous two league games.
Lauren Brennan netted twice for the League Cup finalists while Catherine Hyndman and Zoe McGlynn were also on target to continue Tony McGinley’s side strong run of form.
Sion Swifts welcomed back goalkeeper Nicole McClure - less than 24 hours after competing at the Women’s FIFA World Cup - for the clash.
The first half was a cagey affair with both sides cancelling each other out in terms of possession.
Sion however made their chances count in the second half - Brennan got her first three minutes after the break with a low finish and she doubled her and the visitors tally 11 minutes later after a one-two with Ciara Grant.
On 69 minutes Sion grabbed their third of the night a wonderful low cross from the right wing by McGlynn was slid in at the back post by Hyndman.
Crusaders had few chances in the second half the best being an Amy McGivern snapshot tipped over the bar by McClure on 70 minutes.
Sion continued to dominate and were once again rewarded in injury time as McGlynn produced a smart finish from the edge of the box past Kirsty McCaughtry in the Crusaders goal.
