GLENS CLOSE THE GAP AT THE TOP WITH COMBER VICTORY
Glentoran Women made it three league wins on the bounce as they eased to a 4-0 win at Londonderry Park against basement side Comber Rec Ladies.
Nadene Caldwell was the star of the show for the Glens as she netted a hat-trick - grabbing two goals in three minutes before the break to give the visitors control of the game.
Jessie Davis made it three in the second half before Caldwell completed her treble to see the Glens move within three points of top spot and two clear of Sion, who remain third.
Despite Glentoran being the more dominant team in the first period, with Comber goalkeeper Leigh Skelton making a number of key saves, it took until the 40th minute for Glentoran to break Combers stubborn resistance down.
Caldwell netted twice in three minutes to put the visitors 2-0 up at the break and giving the Glens control.
Comber started the second half on the front foot with Lindsay Johnston’s effort going just wide before Davis added to the Glens lead, with Comber’s Lindsay Johnston potentially getting the unfortunate final touch.
More Glens pressure paid off with eight minutes remaining as Caldwell grabbed her hat-trick to win the game in style.
