NO GOALS BUT COMBER AND DERRY GET FIRST POINTS ON BOARD
Comber Rec. Ladies and Derry City both picked up their opening point of the campaign in a scoreless encounter at Londonderry Park.
For the hosts it was their first ever top flight point having won last season's Championship title, and they cancelled out fellow strugglers Derry City.
Comber started brightly, claiming the first shot on goal within the first minute as Shannon McCullough took aim, but that was as close as Comber would come in the first period.
Derry City dominated the majority of possession and the busier of the goalkeepers was Comber's Leigh Skelton, who pulled off a number of strong saves.
Comber showed more intent in the second period, but in the opening exchanges it was Derry City who looked most likely to break the deadlock and hit the post in the 48th minute.
However, Comber grew in stature as they forced Derry City backwards, with a McCullough free kick on 66 mins causing panic in the visitors box.
Derry finished the game strongly, with Skelton making a string of excellent stops including right at the death, as the game ended scoreless.
