SION AND GLENS SHARE FOUR GOALS IN STRABANE
Glentoran Women dropped their first points of the campaign as two goals in the final twenty minutes from Sion Swifts rescued a point at the Melvin Sports Complex.
After a scoreless first half, Diarmuid O’Carroll's Glens looked to be on their way to three points thanks to two goals from Demi Vance.
However, the Strabane-based hosts, who eliminated Linfield from the League Cup two days earlier, struck back through Tyler Toland and Lauren Brennan to rescue a point.
Sion were the stronger side in the first half - Aimee Mackin broke free midway through the half but visiting goalkeeper Emma Higgins was equal to her shot. Mackin had another chance when Claragh Connor crossed from the right to find the forward free in the box but her right footed effort was straight at Higgins.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring just after the break with Demi Vance netting from close range before scoring directly from a free kick shortly after.
However, Sion fought back - Mackin was brought down inside the area and while Tyler Toland’s penalty was initially saved, she netted the rebound. This goal gave Sion belief and then Brennan came off the bench to score inside the box after determined work from Grant, to draw the home side drew level.
