McEVOY DOUBLE HELPS REDS MAKE IT TWO FROM TWO
Cliftonville Ladies made it two wins from two in their Danske Bank Women’s Premiership campaign as they inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Derry City, who are still without a point, at Solitude.
Despite being scoreless at half-time, a double from Leah McEvoy and a Marissa Callaghan free-kick gave the points to the Reds.
Youngster McEvoy struck the ball sweetly passed the left hand of a helpless Derry goalkeeper Molly McBride to break the deadlock just after the interval.
When McBride then mis-kicked from a pass back minutes later it was McEvoy who was on hand again to send the Reds into a two-goal lead.
Midway through the second half, Niamh Connolly was brought down at the edge of the box and it was veteran Callaghan who stepped up to drill the free-kick home to clinch the third goal and seal all three points for the hosts.
