Linfield Ladies claimed a third successive League Cup final spot by defeating Glentoran Women's 2-1 in a tight semi final at Ashfield Boys School.
Glentoran will feel like they deserved more from the game, on the night they just came up short against Linfield who battled to get to the showpiece final.
Linfield opened the scoring in style on 12 minutes when a left-wing Lauren Robson cross was met first time on the half volley by Hannah Doherty whose volley sailed over Lauren Currie in the Glens goal.
Linfield dominated after scoring and went close soon after when a Kirsty McGuinness shot went wide of the post. McGuinness threatened again and her header went over the crossbar on the 20th minute.
Glentoran's best chance of the half fell to Caragh Milligan who got on the end of a deep left wing cross but her glancing header was wide of the back post.
In the second half the Glens found their rhythm and largely dominated the play, they hit the crossbar, with Milligan, Rachel Rogan and Alison McMaster all missing good chances.
The equaliser did come on 60 minutes when a high hanging corner met Kelly Bailie at the back post where she headed it across the box where McMaster headed it goalwards only for Rogan to make sure it went in.
After that it seemed Glentoran were in the ascendancy, McMaster with another great chance from 12 yards but in two minds whether to shoot first time or attempt to beat the defender.
Glentoran pressed for the winner but a lapse in concentration allowed Chloe McCarron to pick up the ball on the half way line and drive through a non-existent midfield to have a shot from 30 yards. Lauren Currie tried to get her finger tips to the ball but it wasn't to be, the ball cannoning off the upright and into the back of the net.
