SECOND HALF REDS MAKE IT THROUGH
Three second half goals saw Cliftonville Ladies defeat Glentoran Women at Solitude to secure a Women's Premiership League Cup semi-final berth.
Despite dominating the first half visitors Glentoran were left ruing several missed opportunities.
Emma McMaster struck an early free-kick tamely straight at keeper Rachael Norney. The Reds keeper then produced several fine saves to deny Kerry Beattie on the half hour mark and Jess Foy minutes later.
A long range free kick from Toni-Leigh Finnegan almost gave the home side the lead but Ellie Scott claimed well just under the bar. Danielle Maxwell then came closest for Cliftonville but she just couldn't squeeze Hannah's Doherty corner past the resolute Glens defence.
The deadlock was broken five minutes after the break when Caitlin McGuinness teed Marissa Callaghan to rifle the opening goal past Scott.
Callaghan struck again minutes later in off the underside of the bar, with McGuinness following up just to make sure.
The Reds then secured the win with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when another Doherty corner from the right ended up in the net, albeit via a potential ricochet.
