GARTSIDE FOILS RANGERS FROM THE SPOT - TWICE!
Carrick Rangers will rue two missed penalties as they had to settle for a point from Loughgall's visit to Taylors Avenue.
The Villagers created the first effort of note around ten minutes in when Nathaniel Ferris darted forward to have a go from the edge of the area only for defender Luke McCullough to block the shot.
Another opportunity followed around ten minutes after that Tiernan Kelly after he received the ball from the left from Alberto Balde only for the shot to whistle just wide from around 20 yards.
Balde headed over early in the second half as the visitors continued to create the best chances, before turning provider again soon after for Ferris who just failed to make contact.
Rangers were presented with the ideal opportunity to move in front just before the hour when Daniel Gibson was brought down by Jamie Rea in the box with David Cushley stepping up only to see his spot-kick saved to his right by keeper Nathan Gartside.
Then, four minutes from time, Stephen Baxter's were awarded their second penalty of the game after Rea was adjudged to have handled the ball. Gibson assumed penalty duties on this occasion, but again Gartside made the save with Paul Heatley unable to keep the rebound on target.
