JOE THE GOAL RETURNS REDS TO WINNING WAYS
Joe Gormley struck twice as Cliftonville defeated Coleraine at Solitude to pick up their first win in five league outings.
The Bannsiders got off to a bright start, and almost moved in front as early as the fourth minute when Graham Kelly knocked the ball towards goal only to be denied by Reds keeper David Odumosu before he followed up to thwart Matthew Shevlin on the rebound.
The deadlock was broken on 18 minutes, however, somewhat against the run of play when Kelly brought down Rory Hale inside the box with Gormley stepping up to knock the subsequent spot-kick straight down the middle.
And Cliftonville might have extended their lead not long after that when Shea Kearney's shot was kept out by Max Little, with the Coleraine keeper then getting on top of Ryan Corrigan's follow-up.
Coleraine levelled after half-an-hour through Jamie McGonigle who knocked the ball home into the far corner after Jamie Glackin had laid the ball off.
Both sides had further chances to go in at the break on top, with Odumosu reacting well to deny McGonigle a second goal while Little produced a good diving save to keep out Arran Pettifer's effort.
The Reds regained the lead midway through the second half with Gormley's second of the evening, a low finish into the corner from close range after the visiting defence failed to deal with a high ball into the box.
Shevlin came close to levelling for the visitors in the closing minutes only to head just over from six yards but the Reds held on to claim the points.
