SWIFTS 'TWO' STRONG FOR PORTS
Dungannon Swifts hit two goals without reply past Portadown at Stangmore Park to remain in third spot.
Andy Mitchell might have opened the scoring for the Swifts early on only to fail to convert Leo Alves' corner from close range.
Adam Glenny then forced Ports keeper Aaron McCarey into a scrambling save to turn his effort over the top while a Kealan Dillon first time shot was ultimately too high to hit the target.
The Swifts continued to press with Alves firing straight at McCarey, while John McGovern did something similar when he found himself in space a little later.
However Rodney McAree's side finally found a way through nine minutes after the break when McGovern sent a well delivered cross low into the box for Mitchell to run onto and tap home.
Then, with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, they doubled their advantage courtesy of a superb Alves strike into the top right corner despite McCarey's best efforts to reach the ball.
