GLENS STORM TO DERBY VICTORY
Glentoran produced a strong second half performance to come from behind to defeat Linfield in the Friday night derby at Windsor Park.
Linfield had the ball in the net early in the game when Joel Cooper fired home, only for it to be ruled out following a foul on Marcus Kane in the build up.
But Cooper wasn't to be denied on eight minutes. Matthew Fitzpatrick knocked a Jamie Mulgrew pass into the path of Kirk Millar, and with the visiting defence failing to clear the danger the ball eventually fell for Cooper to unleash a strong drive into the back of the net.
Cooper might have doubled up not long after that from Ethan McGee's throw-in but his effort landed on the roof of the net.
Glentoran regroup at the break, and got back onto level terms five minutes into the second half after Daniel Amos sent the ball over from the left for Jay Donnelly to control and fire past Chris Johns into the bottom left corner.
Then, just after the hour, the visitors moved in front when, from another Amos delivery, Frankie Hvid rose highest to send a bullet header into the top right.
And the Glens killed the game off ten minutes from time after Cameron Palmer dispossessed Chris Shields to go one-on-one with Johns, and confidently slot past the Linfield keeper.
