REDS STORM PAST VILLAGERS
Cliftonville stormed to a thumping 5-1 defeat of Loughgall at Lakeview Park.
The Reds raced into a three-goal lead with less than half-an-hour on the clock.
Joe Gormley kicked the scoring off on 19 minutes with a calm finish past Nathan Gartside with Kris Lowe doubling up just four minutes later after holding off Jamie Rea.
Jonny Addis then added a third not long after that with a thundering header from Ronan Doherty’s corner.
Nathaniel Ferris pulled one back for the Villagers on 71 minutes after getting past Addis to fire past David Odumosu at the near post.
But recent signing Taylor Steven added to Cliftonville’s tally with two goals late in the second half.
His first, with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, came after he was allowed too much space in the area to turn and fire past Gartside … and he doubled his tally in stoppage time by applying the finishing touch to Ryan Corrigan's looping shot beyond the reach of the home keeper.
