KENNEDY SCORES AGAIN AS SKY BLUES MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW
Ben Kennedy found the net again as Ballymena United clocked up their third straight league victory at Glentoran's expense at The Showgrounds.
The 27-year-old bagged his sixth goal for the Sky Blues since joining from Crusaders when, in the 90th minute, when he ran onto a defence splitting ball to keep his cool and finish past keeper Daniel Gyollai.
Indeed, Kennedy created the first effort of note in the too when his 13th minute shot across goal was tipped away by Gyollai.
It turned out to be a quiet first half, though, with the only other clear chance coming towards the end when Patrick McClean almost turned home a Dylan Connolly corner at the back post.
Connolly produced a save from home keeper Sean O'Neill early in the second half while, at the other end, Johnny McMurray saw his turn and shot scrambling to safety by Gyollai.
McMurray threatened again soon after but, again, Gyollai managed to keep the ball out … as he did again from yet another McMurray chance a few minutes later.
Glentoran were reduced to ten men with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after skipper Marcus Kane received his second caution of the game for a foul on Kennedy.
Looking to take advantage of their extra man, United almost edged in front on 89 minutes after Calvin McCurry's cross was turned onto the crossbar but, just sixty seconds after that, Kennedy popped up to bag the winner.
