JENKINS WONDER GOAL GIVES GLENS THE EDGE
Jordan Jenkins knocked home an absolute stunner which ultimately handed Declan Devine’s side the points from Cliftonville’s visit to the BetMcLean Oval.
The 24-year-old hit the only goal of the game as early as the second minute after he flicked the ball into space on the edge of the area and unleashed a terrific left-foot screamer into the top corner giving David Odumosu no chance.
Jenkins almost struck again a few minutes after that only to thwarted by Kris Lowe's headed clearance as he attempted to connect with Dylan Connolly's cross to the back post.
At the other end Joe Gormley came close to levelling with an ambitious lob over keeper Daniel Gyollai only for the ball to land on the roof of the net.
David Fisher had a chance to extend Glentoran's lead early in the second half but was denied by a strong stop from Odumosu.
And only defending in numbers later prevented both James Douglas and James Singleton from adding a second while, for the Reds, Ryan Curran sent an effort the wrong side of the post as the Reds probed for the equaliser.
Curran threatened again later in the game but, on this occasion, was blocked by Singleton as he pulled the trigger.
