LURGAN BLUES GET FIRST POINTS ON BOARD
A goal early in each half saw Glenavon pick up their first points of the campaign with victory over Coleraine at The Showgrounds.
David McDaid opened the scoring for the visitors against his old club as early as the second minute when he was on hand to flick the ball home from close range after an initial Niall Quinn effort wasn't cleared.
The Bannsiders had numerous opportunities to level, coming close on 12 minutes through Cameron Stewart's firm header which Gareth Deane palmed away to safety.
And Deane thwarted his former club again just after the half-hour mark with a superb stop to keep out Mackenzie Carse's first time effort.
But Dean Shiels' side fell further behind four minutes into the second half. A Lyndon Kane misplaced pass was pounced upon by Keith Ward who was given the time and space to cut through the defence before firing low into the bottom corner.
Glenavon held their hosts at bay for the remainder of the game, although Coleraine did come close in the closing moments with Dylan Boyle's curling effort but, again, Deane proved equal to the threat.
