NO WAY THROUGH AT THE OVAL
Glentoran and Coleraine battled to a scoreless draw at the BetMcLean Oval.
The Bannsiders might have moved in front after just five minutes when Matthew Shevlin pounced on a poor backpass to lay the ball off for Rhyss Campbell but the home defence just about scrambled to deal with the threat.
Glentoran had a chance themselves later in the half courtesy of Cameron Palmer's 25-yard curling left-foot effort that fell just the wrong side of the upright.
Then, moments from the break, Shevlin was denied by a superb stop from keeper Daniel Gyollai as the sides ended the first half scoreless.
Jordan Jenkins came close to breaking the deadlock early in the second half after Fuad Sule sent a cross into the area but his header was tipped over by Rory Brown.
Indeed, the Glens looked the more likely to find a way through the longer the game went on with David Fisher flashing a free-kick just wide on 74 minutes while, right at the end, he came close again with a header from a Niall McGinn set piece but Brown was handily placed to make the save.
