RANGERS MOVE CLOSER TO EURO PLAY-OFF SPOT
Carrick Rangers hold the advantage in the battle for the European play-offs place following a 2-1 defeat of Loughgall at the Loughview Leisure Arena.
Stuart King's side occupy the crucial seventh spot, three points clear of challengers Dungannon Swifts, going into the final game of the campaign.
Cameron Stewart opened the scoring with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when he connected to a David Cushley free-kick to directed a header past keeper Berraat Turker.
And he found the net again just three minutes after that, this time with a back post header from Kyle Cherry's corner.
The Villagers hit back on 33 minutes, however, through Ryan Waide whose long range effort curled into the top corner to give Ross Glendinning no chance.
Loughgall might have levelled not long after that when a Pablo Andrade cross caused problems with the ball deflecting onto the crossbar before Glendinning tipped it over.
Rangers were reduced to ten men just before the break after Steven Gordon was shown a straight red card following a tackle on Jordan Gibson.
The visitors tried to make their extra man count in the second half, but only came close to levelling when Waide saw his volley from the edge of the box fizz just wide of the target.
